Holzverbundwerkstoffe
Zukunftsfähige Werkstoffe aus Holzverbundmaterialien

Der Markt für naturfaserverstärkte Kunststoffe hat sich in den letzten Jahren mit jährlichen Zuwachsraten von 25 % sehr positiv entwickelt. Hanf- und Flachsfasern, die primär in der Automobilindustrie zum Einsatz kommen, wird die Verarbeitung von Holzfasern speziell in Bereichen, die unter besonders hohem Preisdruck stehen (wie z.B. dem Baubereich) immer interessanter. Hauptmärkte für Wood Plastic Composites (WPC) sind die USA und Japan, aber auch in Europa erwarten Experten in den kommenden Jahren ein enormes Wachstum.

Im Rahmen der Programmlinie "Fabrik der Zukunft" wurden in mehreren Projekten Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten zum Thema "Wood Plastic Composites" durchgeführt.

S-House
Innovative Nutzung von nachwachsenden Rohstoffen am Beispiel eines Büro- und Ausstellungsgebäudes im Rahmen von "Haus der Zukunft"

Mit dem S-HOUSE ist ein innovatives Bauprojekt entstanden, das sowohl den hohen Energiestandard der Passivhausbauweise erfüllt, als auch den konsequenten Einsatz von Baustoffen aus nachwachsenden Rohstoffen demonstriert. Zudem wurde eine Vielzahl von innovativen Lösungen entwickelt, die die problemlose Recyclierbarkeit aller eingesetzten Bauteile nach Ablauf der Lebensdauer ermöglichen.

NAWARO-CASCADING
Kaskadische Nutzung von nachwachsenden Rohstoffen für die "Fabrik der Zukunft"

Das Design von neuen Produkten aus heimischen nachwachsenden Rohstoffen bzw. die Verwertung von landwirtschaftlichen Reststoffen sind wichtige Schwerpunkte für Forschung und Entwicklung, die neue Chancen für viele Regionen und Betriebe Österreichs eröffnen können. Neue Projekte, die im Rahmen der Programmlinie "Fabrik der Zukunft" entstanden sind, untersuchen die Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von heimischen nachwachsenden Rohstoffen und entwickeln konkrete Umsetzungsmodelle in Zusammenarbeit mit regionalen Unternehmen.

Österreichische Forschung für abfall- und emissionsarme Industrieprozesse im Rahmen von "Fabrik der Zukunft"

Im Rahmen der Programmlinie "Fabrik der Zukunft" werden verschiedene Forschungsprojekte durchgeführt, die sich sowohl mit den Grundlagen des Zero Emission Ansatzes beschäftigen, als auch in enger Kooperation mit österreichischen Industriebetrieben Möglichkeiten und Wege der Umsetzung in die Praxis aufzeigen.

Ein innovatives Technologiekonzept zur Schaffung einer nachhaltigen Rohstoffbasis im Rahmen von "Fabrik der Zukunft"

In mehreren Teilprojekten ("Verwertung der Grasfaserfraktion" und "Gewinnung von Proteinen und Milchsäure aus Grassäften und Grassilagesaft") wurden die Grundlagen für ein wirtschaftlich rentables Modell einer grünen Bioraffinerie in Österreich erarbeitet.

Wood Plastic Composites
Future-Proof Materials From Wood Composites - Projects Within The "Factory of Tomorrow" Subprogram

In recent years, the market for natural fiber reinforced plastics has seen a very positive development with growth rates of 25 %. In addition to hemp and flax fibers, which are primarily used in the automotive industries, the use of wood fibers in industries that are exposed to extreme price pressure (e.g. the construction sector) becomes increasingly attractive. While the main markets for wood plastic composites (WPC) are in the U.S.A. and in Japan, experts expect enormous growth rates in Europe in the next years as well.

Several research and development projects within the "Factory of Tomorrow" subprogram addressed the topic "Wood Plastic Composites".

Innovative Utilisation of Renewable Raw Materials as in the Example of an Office and Exhibition Building for the Project "Building of Tomorrow"

An innovative building project has resulted with the S-HOUSE, which meets the high standard of energy for the passive house technology and also demonstrates the appropriate use of building materials derived from renewable raw materials. In addition, a large number of suitable solutions have been developed that enable problem-free reusability of all building materials used after completion of their lifespan.
