The symposium is organized and supported by IEA DSM Task 17: Integration of Demand Side Management, Distributed Generation, Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storages.Content Description
Demand and generation flexibility is needed in order to in effectively integrate renewables and distributed generation in the future energy system. The transition from passive demand side to responsive and active demand integration involves many different domains, from the technical capabilities of individual components (e.g. heat-pumps, storages, inverters) to the aggregated operation and market participation and new services. These different aspects are target by various activities of the International Energy Agency by means of technology focused tasks and annexes.
This symposium brings together the different viewpoints and domains dealing with enabling flexibility and integration of renewables at the demand side. Among others cost-effective demand response includes the interaction of:
- prosumer’s generation (PV, µCHP)
- electric storage capabilities (electric storage, electric vehicles)
- thermal storages like buildings or heat networks
- user behavior, participation and interaction
- components (heat-pumps)
- grid and market services
Speakers from expert activities of various energy technology initiatives will discuss recent research results, technology options and international viewpoints together with academics, distribution network operators and representatives from industry.
Experts from industry, researchers, entrepreneurs and policy makers are invited to join the symposium and take part in the active discussions and panel sessions.
