Austrian Smart Grid Pioneers in Dialogue. Guest Countries: Germany and Switzerland

Content Description

Initiated by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) and based on the results of the research programs of BMVIT, an intensive discussion process on smart-grids - intelligent grids of the future - has already started some years ago in Austria. This early positioning, the high commitment of scientists and researchers, grid operators and companies, as well as the already existing specific know-how in Austria have contributed to a trend-setting research and that first pioneer regions engage themselves with the implementation of this new system solution.

The challenge of the annual SMART GRIDS WEEK is to present initiatives as well as research and development outcomes and to discuss these with a professional expert audience from industry, research as well as administration and public authorities in order to develop new fields for development. Smart grids in the European context, options for cooperation especially in the German speaking countries ("smart grids D-A-CH"), the international exchange of experience as well as the intense networking with the stakeholders in Europe are scheduled for this year.

Focus of the Smart Grids Week Salzburg 2010

  • Presentations of Austrian pioneer regions.
  • Integration of the activities of the "D-A-CH-countries" in the European context, of national initiatives and of EU demo projects.
  • First concrete steps to implement the D-A-CH Smart Grid research cooperation between Germany (D), Austria(A) and Switzerland(CH).
  • Presentation of actual research tenders with project panel and submission counselling.

Program

Smart Grids D-A-CH-Workshop

June 22nd 2010, 10:00 - 17:30
Salzburg AG, Bayerhamerstraße 16, 5020 Salzburg, Austria

The objective of the Smart Grid D-A-C-H Cooperation is the joint and coordinated development of information and communication technology products, procedures and services to reduce energy cost, increase the security of supply and improve climate protection. Special attention will be paid to the cooperation and exchange of experience among the D-A-CH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The Smart Grids D-A-CH cooperation provides the necessary structures and contributes thus to accelerating the implementation of intelligent energy systems in the D-A-C-H countries and enabling far-reaching interoperability of technical processes and products.

The objectives of this workshop are

  • working out the basic principles for the Smart Grids D-A-C-H programme,
  • substantiating individual project approaches,
  • developing a roadmap for further procedures
